A great song for May Day: Barnstormer 1649, “March of the the Levellers/The Diggers Song/The World Turned Upside Down”
I’ve had repeated listenings of this on and since May Day (International Workers Day).
I was introduced to the poetry and music of Attila the Stockbroker on Live in Dublin.

His musical storytelling and anti-imperialist analysis has always been at his core as a poet, a singer, and a musician on several rock, folk, and ancient instruments. Especially, listen to “New World Order Rap” and ponder on its relevance today.
His band, Barnstormer 1649, is an acknowledgment to the Diggers, the movement dedicated to freeing the land from the landlords to grow food and to freeing the people from state and church repression to live together. This medley is a dedication to these freedom fighters.
If the name sounds familiar, maybe you’ve heard of the Diggers from San Francisco in the 1960s who organized a people’s cultural movement dedicated to free food and free human necessities. They established several free bakeries, including God’s Eye Bakery at Resurrection City, a 1968 encampment in Washington, DC, that was organized by the original Poor People’s Campaign to freeing people and the land from poverty and national oppression and a critical center for people’s culture too.
