There are many reasons to remember Amy Winehouse on her 40th birth anniversary.
Her socialist consciousness is one of them.
You can hear that even in the words she sang. There are perhaps at best, for example, few artists who could sing a powerful remake of the Special AKA’s “Free Nelson Mandela.”
Amy did for this song for dancing to end apartheid, at the Nelson Mandela 90th birthday celebration in Hyde Park, London, in 2008.

Ah what a great post. I bought the single by the Special AKA when it first came out. It's great to see Amy singing it. What a huge loss she was.
