Until now, I’ve shared a few of my short drone pieces here. Also, more recently, of my longer jams with the New Haven Improvisers Collective. Today, I’m sharing a track that I’ve previously placed on SoundCloud.
Here is a rough mix of “Spirit Turnpike,” the title track of the upcoming EP, a contribution from me to the LABELABELverse.1
What you hear is an acoustic guitar run through several laptop pedal effects. I intended the instrumental to be evocative of a journey.
A musical collaborator of mine called an earlier demo, on which I built upon for this, “space rock” and “post-rock,” both genres which I dig. Feel free to (dis)agree. As to the first genre, I was inspired by the G-D-A chord progression on “Quark, Strangeness, & Charm” by Hawkwind.2
And I’ll be sure to send updates.
¡On the Turnpike!

The song itself is the title track of their 1977 prog-rock classic.
SOLID and far out noise. Nice work, Angel.
Far OUT! Love the title and the piece. Meditative and spacey.
